I'm in love
... with surgery.
Just for fun:
Holy whoa... I haven't updated in forever. Let's see... psych is long done (PTL) and surgery is almost over.
Last year I posted a little post about how I might be thinking about surgery instead of pediatrics, and I'm still holding out my verdict on what I want to do, however, I can say this: I am loving my surgery rotation. And I'm really sad that it will be ending in 2 weeks. I want to stay on the service and learn more.
Surgery is intuitive. Surgery exciting. Surgery has me not eating or sitting down and being in the OR from 4 pm to 4 am without feeling tired. Surgery makes me look forward to 4th year and beyond. Needless to say, surgery is definitely high on my list of potential careers.
So far I've rotated through 2 different services: General Surgery and Trauma Surgery. I spend the next 2 weeks on Cardiothoracics. I'm loving everything and can't wait to learn. I'm trying to soak up everything.
Okay, I know this sounds like a person falling in love... but I kind of have. What can I say, I'm a dork. And now I need to stop.... before I sound even more like a crazy person.
