It Just Makes Me Mad

Okay, I've already commented on the idiot flying with TB, but what makes me even madder is HE KNEW. Seriously, is he trying to get people really really sick!?!? What a frickin' idiot! You have something called a BRAIN in your head. Now would be a good time to start using it. Seriously, what was he thinking?

"Hmm, I have a highly contagious version of TB that doesn't respond to medication. Let me just get on a plane where I can infect 150 people. That's sounds like a SUPERB idea. That way if people do get sick, I can get sued! YES! Just what I've always wanted."

Random Musings

So, when I woke up this morning I had 54 different blogs and news articles to read (yes, count them... 54!). So, I scanned through them and thought I would give you my thoughts.

1. Barack Obama's Health Care Policy
Now, some people would call me stupid for this, but I think it sounds like a good policy. Granted, I have no idea how it would truly affect me as a future physician (i.e. will I actually be able to pay off my med school loans when socialized medicine comes into play?), but I think that the idea is good. Taking away the tax cut for the wealthy would be hard (at least for the wealthy), but I think that a democratic house would be able to do it. It also wouldn't affect small businesses (aka my dad's business), because it would only affect businesses that employed a certain amount of people.
I think we can all agree that a major problem facing the nation is the fact that there are so many uninsured people. But nothing has really be done to fix that recently. I think that it is important for all citizens to have the chance to be insured... HMO, Medicaid and Medicare just are seeming to get everything that needs to be done done.
So, what are other people thinking about this policy? Anyone else seeing it as a potentially very good thing?

2. Just Plain Scary
Multi-drug resistance is just scary (aka MRSA), however, MDR TB!?!! Holy crap, watch out! TB is transmit by coughing up the little buggers that then get inhaled by someone else. Now, let's think of a plane. Small confined space with ventilation system that throws everything else back out. Hmm, many people get sick from being in planes due to the close quarters.. and those are just colds. But now we're talking DEADLY TB!
Those people (150+) on both flights are now merrily living out their lives in wherever they were from. They might have even been on a flight. TB takes 2 weeks to 1 month to incubate. That means that those people could have TB, get checked now, and not find that they have it. HELLO, if you are SICK do not get on a plane until you are sure you're not going to KILL anyone. Common sense people, common sense.
I think what scares me the most is that I'll be getting on a plane in 9 days... ahh, please don't let me die.. please don't let me die.

3. Tragic
I don't know if I have any words about this, except that it's so incredibly sad. Please, if you think you are suffering from depression PLEASE seek the help of a professional to help you work through the issues it is stemming from.

Welcome to those who are coming by via my old blog. I hope that you will find this one as fun as you found the last one (if you didn't find the last one fun, sorry, but you'll just have to deal).

Seeing as I'll no longer be in Thailand, I thought now would be a good time to start a new blog. New Phase = New Blog!

This blog will update you (hopefully fairly regularly) about my journal through medical school. I am going to try and be good about not disclosing information that will come back to haunt me, so I would ask that those who know me personally would not let those pieces of information slip as well.
