The Jackhammer and other Rants

For those of you who have been to my apartment, you might remember the "museum" (aka graffiti on the old train tracks) on the north side... This "museum of modern art" is now being turned into a walkway from the river to the farmers market, for which I'm very excited.

However, I have to give some advice to the people doing the job:

1. It is never okay to start your jackhammer at 7:30 am when the site is next to a 20+ floor apartment complex, or anywhere next to where people live.

2. It should be against the law to work through the weekend, as this is the time when most people in said apartment complex are home trying to relax.... your "dun-dun-dun" sound lasting for hours on end does not help this ... let alone make a conductive study environment.

3. It is not okay to work past 7 pm either (normal people stop working at 5, so should you)... people want to watch the news and catch up on life, which again is hard with your incessant noise.

More word to the "wise", and by this I mean the people running the city or visiting the city:

If you are coming in for a sports event down here...

1.DO NOT stop in the middle of the highway. Just because you don't know where you're going does not mean you can put everyone at risk.

2. Drive the speed limit... you may be here to play, but some of us actually live here and have to work... We don't have time to sit behind you while you a) figure out where the crap you are (hint: they're called street signs and they are in big letters) b) admire the scenery of the city

To the city government people:

1. What in your minds where you thinking by planning a marathon on the day of a NFL game?!?! You obviously are never down here because then you would realize that when there is a lot of extra traffic and people wanting to get home will try different routes. This is okay, unless you shut down all the major roads for a stupid race.

2. It is never okay to make your own turn lane in an oncoming traffic lane, even if you are an undercover cop... You obviously aren't in a rush as you aren't actually flashing your lights. Stop being obnoxious and follow the traffic laws that you are trying to enforce.

the city came the other day to put a sign in my front yard smack dab in the middle of the yard---NO PARKING ON SCHOOL DAYS---they wouldn't stop so i had to call 6 men to come out before i found the City Commissioner who said it wasn't cool...WHEW!...so they put the sign on my driveway...good compromise...

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE STAPH INFECTION IN YOUR OLD APARTMENT??? LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE TWO IN THE HOSPITAL BED? whoa...
